Artist Statement

My practice is varied in mediums but focuses mainly on oil and watercolor painting. I bounce between abstraction and representation, sometimes combining element of both in one work. A common thread that runs through most of my work is the idea of ‘home’. I explore this concept and the more abstract ideas of belonging and intimacy. My practice is very centered on processing personal emotions through my work. My work reflects changes in how I perceive my surroundings and my place within them. I keep up a photography practice to document moments within my own domestic spaces as reference for my paintings. I am interested in how small mundane moments and objects can reference a larger situation of emotion. My practice will continue to evolve and change with me as I continue to be shaped by the environments and people I am surrounded with.
